    A fine antique sterling silver wine jug in the elegant classical style typical of this well regarded maker. With a tall shapely form on a pedestal foot and curved wooden handle with discreetly decorated end mounts. To the body there is a central band with bead borders, the lid and foot are similarly decorated. To the front there is a large hand engraved crest of a lion rampant. Contains 1200 ml. Weight 775 grams, 24.9 troy ounces. Height 31 cms (top of handle). Spread 16 cms. Diameter of base 10.25 cms. London 1779. Maker John Scofield.

    A fine antique sterling silver wine jug in the elegant classical style typical of this well regarded maker. Excellent quality and weight. With a tall shapely form on a pedestal foot and curved wooden handle with discreetly decorated end mounts. The body is half fluted below a central reeded band. To the front there is a hand engraved coat of arms with the motto below “Vis Unita Fortior” – “United Strength is Stronger”. On the lid there is a hand engraved crest. Contains 1300 ml.
