    A rare early English silver mug of large size and very heavy gauge silver dating from the James II period. With a plain straight sided tapering form, simple reeded bands to top and base and an “S” scroll handle. To the front is an impressive hand engraved armorial with the crest of a sheep and the motto “Felice Chi Puo”. Excellent colour. Weight 475 grams, 15.2 troy ounces. Height 11 cm. Diameter 8.6 cm (top), 10 cm (base). Contains 1 pint. London 1686. Makers mark entered in Jacksons Page 142. Handle unmarked.

    A good early antique sterling silver tankard of cylindrical form with coopered bands and a shaped handle. Excellent plain styling. A nice detail is the decorative ribbed spine to the top of the handle. Uninscribed. Good colour. Owners initials “EH” etched to the top of the handle. Contains 450 ml. Weight 299 grams, 9.6 troy ounces. Height 11.5 cm. Spread 13.cm. Diameter 8 cm (top). London 1686. Maker “IC” probably John Cruttall* (ref.     9283 Antique James II Silver Sugar Caster

    A late 17th century antique sterling silver muffineer in the traditional lighthouse design with a bayonet fitting, so typical of these very early casters. This lovely castor is of heavy quality and feels good in the hand. The base is plain styled with pierced motifs, the top is simply pierced, the holes are quite large as crushed loaf sugar was still in use at this early date. Engraved to the front is a large armorial, the top has the matching crest. Weight 243 grams, 7.8 troy ounces. Height 17 cms. Diameter of base 8.2 cms. London 1686.     Absolutely stunning. A rare early English silver cup of plain form with serpent handles. Simple style with exquisite engraving to both sides. To the front there is an armorial within a tied plumage cartouche, the correct form of armorial for this date. The reverse depicts an archer and the name Charles Dakeyne Captain Aprill 23.1690. Excellent patina. Weight 130 grams, 4,1 troy ounces. Height 7.25 cms. Diameter 9 cms. Spread 14.25 cms. London 1688. Maker John Jackson (mark partially struck).

    A rare early English sterling silver porringer with matching lid having engraved decoration of cherubs, birds, flowers etc. This chinoiserie decoration was popular over about a ten year period – it is rarely found and adds considerably to the piece. Excellent colour. This charming piece has an armorial to the front and a crest to the reverse. This porringer was sold in 1961 by the famous silver expert Mrs G.E.P How of Pickering Place, St James, London and she describes it in the accompanying paperwork (see photos) as being “of a most unusual form” .I know of only three other examples of this work”. There is a large contemporary hand engraved armorial to the front contained within plumage, the arms of Rous of Henham Hall, Suffolk.     An extremely rare early English silver chamber stick (also known as a go to bed) with the solid design and excellent heavy gauge silver as you’d expect from this date. It has the early form with a long cannon handle and heavy bordered drip pan with a reeded edge. A nice feature is the ring handle support. The drip pan has hand engraved initials underneath.
