An attractive pair of sterling silver condiments modelled as Humpty Dumpty, the egg shaped character from the children’s nursery tale.

Literature: The origins of Humpty Dumpty are unknown but this name was in use as far back as the 15th century. The nursery rhyme was first printed in 1810 and the egg shaped character became famous through the book “Alice Through the Looking Glass” by Lewis Carroll.

Cornelius Saunders & Francis Shepherd

Saunders & Sheperd was founded in London by Cornelius Desormeaux Sanders Sr and James Francis Hollings Sheperd (1869). Became Saunders & Sheperd Ltd in 1899 and and Saunders, Sheperd & Co Ltd in 1916. Active at Bartlett's Building-Holborn Circus, London (1873-1902)

Condition

These interesting silver condiments are in very good condition with no damage or restoration. The mustard has the original glass liner and both pots have original gilt interiors. Both are stamped on the top and base with matching English silver hallmarks.
