Description

This decorative antique silver plated biscuit box opens to reveal a stunning interior. Attractive shell shape with a rustic bark design frame. The pierced grills keep the biscuits in place and can be lifted to access the contents. Silver plated with gold plated lining. Height 24 cms. Width 20 cms. Underneath there is a Victorian lozenge registration mark for 1877. Maker Fenton Brothers of Sheffield.

Literature: Traditionally these boxes were kept by the fire to warm the biscuits. They usually have pretty pierced grills to keep the biscuits in place which can be lifted to access the contents.

Condition

This decorative box is in very good condition with no damage or restoration. The silver plate has one very tiny patch of wear. The gilt has no wear, pale colour. Please note that this item is not new and will show moderate signs of wear commensurate with age. Reflections in the photograph may detract from the true representation of this item.
