Description

An antique sterling silver teapot of circular form. Hinged lid. Drum teapots are very desirable and are usually found between 1760 and 1780. Lovely plain styling and bead borders. To the front is a hand engraved crest. Contains 730 ml. Weight 492 grams, 15.8 troy ounces. Height 12.5 cms. Spread 23.5 cms. Base diameter 11 cms. London 1776. Maker Charles Aldridge & Henry Green.

Charles Aldridge, apprenticed to his uncle Edward Aldridge 1758, free 1766. 1st mark as plateworker , in partnership with Henry Green 1775. 2nd mark alone 1786. 3rd small mark 1789.Henry Green, free of the Girdlers Company 1772. Mark entered as plateworker, in partnership with Charles Aldridge, 1775. 2nd mark alone, 3 sizes, 1786.

Condition

This charming antique silver teapot is in very good condition with no damage or restoration. Stamped underneath with a full set of clear English silver hallmarks, the lid has the lion and makers mark. The teapot pours beautifully and does not leak. Please note that this item is not new and will show moderate signs of wear commensurate with age. Reflections in the photograph may detract from the true representation of this item.
