A good quality late Victorian small 9 carat gold and enamel telescopic propelling pencil with attached suspension ring, a deep blue coloured guilloche enamel sleeve, and bullet shaped telescopic pencil with reeded barrel. Length 3cm (closed), 6.1cm (open). Maker “E.B”. England. Circa 1890.

9947 Antique Silver Mounted Ostrich Egg

A 19^th century silver mounted ostrich egg with pedestal foot; the top having a finial in the form of a model ostrich bird. The silver is lavishly decorated with flowing scrolls, rosettes and foliate detail. Height 29cm to top of finial. Unmarked silver. Probably Indian circa 1890.

A fantastic antique coconut cup finely modelled in the Renaissance style as an owl with hinged wings and figural strapwork. The silver head, with large cut paste eyes surrounded by tuffs of feathers, is detachable and can be used as a drinking cup. The silver base is intricately modelled as a rocky outcrop mounted with applied insects and amphibians. Total weight, including coconut, 1025 grams. Height 29.5cm. Spread across the wings 19cm. Hanau, Germany. Circa 1890. Maker Gebruder Gutgesell. Silver grade 875/1000.

9268 Antique Silver Model Horse and Rider

A large and substantial figure of a silver rider on horseback. Excellent quality and heavy gauge. Original gilt finish and jewelling to the clothing and horse harness. Natural stone base. The model is very intricate with many separate pieces assembled together. The head is removable. Weight 1180 grams, 37.9 troy ounces. This weight excludes the onyx base and the two silver hallmarked screw caps. It includes the weight of the two screws soldered to the bottom of the back hooves. Height 28 cm (from base to top of head). Base height 3 cm, length 24 cm, width 13 cm. Marked on the head, harness and horse tail with London import marks for 1896, maker Edwin Thompson Bryant.

A striking figure of a dog raised on hind legs with one foot supported by an oval specimen of Blue John*. The modelling is very realistic. Raised on a marble resin base. Height 17.5 (total), 12.5 cms (dog) cms. Base 10.5 x 5.8 cms. Unsigned. Probably English. Circa 1900.

A delightful antique silver clock of waisted shape, sitting on four scroll feet, the case decorated with cast silver rococo mounts. Dainty size. The front is very beautiful having a pierced silver decoration, with a bird and flowers, over an inset panel of mother of pearl. The dial is very pretty and has multi coloured decoration. The hinged back panel opens to access the watch type movement. Height 10 cm. Width 5.5 cm. Marked inside the hinged panel with German silver marks, crown and moon, and the silver grade 800. To the left there is a small square mark with a wheel inside which may be the makers mark. Circa 1900

A stunning pair of antique wall mirrors of tall shaped form (girandoles), each mounted with two pairs of candle sconces. Decorated in the flamboyant rococo style, the scrolling high relief ornament has fretwork, sea foam and stalactites. Mounted at the top is a winged cherub and below the mirror is a figural plaque. Height 65 cm. Width 34 cm. Mirror height 30 cm, width 18 cm. Probably French. Circa 1900.

An early 20^th century silver retractable toothpick in a discreet plain style. Fully portable, the little silver hook at one end will attach it to a key ring, watch chain etc for safety. To use simply slide the sleeve forward to reveal an elegant silver tooth pick. Length 5.3cm closed, 7.5cm open. Circa 1900-1910. Maker Arthur Downing Ltd. Sterling silver.

9955 Charles II Style Antique Silver Chenets

An outstanding pair of George IV sterling silver cherub ornaments of substantial weight and presence. These silver andirons are in the 17^th century style, after the models at Knowle. The vase shaped bodies support large cherub finials; one with a shovel, the other with a pair of bellows. The broad shaped bases, raised on claw feet, are chased in relief with busts and satyr masks amidst foliage. These andirons are raised on later, detachable and ebonised wood display plinths. Total weight of silver 7,664 grams, 246.3 troy ounces. Height 63.4cm, total height 73cm including the wooden stand. London 1916. Maker Edward Barnard & Sons. Sterling silver.

A stylish antique silver folding magnifying glass or eyeglass, the handle and frame decorated with engine turning and art deco motif. The lorgnette is operated by a spring clip at the bottom of the handle. Length 11.8cm. 935 grade silver. Probably German. Circa 1920.
