Elegant classical style with Campana urn form; the twin handles mounted with Bacchanalian face masks. The lift off cover has a finial in the form of a wrythen fluted flower seed with petal surround. Embossed to the front in low relief is a charming scene of horses relaxing and socialising. The reverse has an applied laurel wreath containing an engraved inscription for Newcastle Upon Tyne Stewards 1817. Weight 3718 grams, 119 troy ounces. Height 38cm. London 1809. A very rare and prestigious item. This magnificent gilt silver armada jug and stand was presented in honour of the Guildhall banquet for the Prince and Princess of Wales’s return from India. The tall jug, of vase shape form, has bands of classical motifs and ribbing, the centre with deep relief swags of ribbons and fruit with centre medallions. This superb decoration is repeated on the matching base which has a raised central dome decorated with the Prince of Wales feathers. The front of the basin has a large presentation inscription dated 1876. Weight – ewer 908 grams, basin 1258 grams, total 2166 grams, 69.6 troy ounces. Jug – height36cm, spread 14cm. The front panel contains the figure of a Greek deity and there are names etched below the panels. The silver lid is mounted with an entwined serpent and an inset piece of mother of pearl. Of horse racing interest. A superb pair of large antique sterling silver presentation vases with covers. Each trophy has a tall vase shape on a pedestal foot and flying side handles. The embossed decoration is particularly fine with ribbons and swags of harebells, there is a band of acanthus leaves around the bottom. Each side there is a plaited ribbon cartouche containing, to the front, a coat of arms with crest and to the back, a presentation inscription. These vases, or chestnut urns, are very large and suitable to stand a bottle inside. Weight 1784 grams and 1705 grams, total 3489 grams, 112.1 troy ounces. 8599 Antique German Silver Nef Sailing Ship

A superb sterling silver galleon ship, known as a Nef, intricately modelled with 2 tall masts having multi section sails and long boom, manned crows nests, flags and rigging. Each mast has a man climbing up a tall ladder. On the upper deck the helmsman is steering the ship while the other sailors carry out their duties. A central staircase connects the two decks. Around the edge is a decorative pierced gallery and below this, the port holes with their cannons ready for battle. There is a large armorial plaque to the rear of the hull with the motto “Honi soit qui mal y pense”.

The top of the hull measures – length 31.5cm x width 14.3 cm (at the widest point).The nef has multiple silver stamps including London import marks, on the bottom edge of the top section and the body of the hull, for 1913. The top section of the Neff can be removed from the hull. The hull of the ship is realistically engraved with timber effect planks and graining; the interior is gilded, the rudder is in the form of a dolphin, the anchor is attached by a chain. The ship has 10 cannons and stands on four decorative wheels.
