Description
An unusual antique sterling silver tea caddy box of plain oval form with a hinged carrying handle. With a broad egg and dart border to the top edge. Typical Georgian style. The double opening lid has an inset hinge and there is a lock to either side. Weight 581 grams, 18.6 troy ounces. Height 10 cms, 17.5 cms to top of handle. Top measures 15.5 x 12 cms. London 1808. Condition
This elegant silver box is in very good condition with no damage or restoration. Both lids open and close well (1 at a time). There is a key supplied which works reasonably well but not perfectly. There is a small finger piece to assist opening the lid which is present on side and missing on the other. Fully silver hallmarked underneath, part marked under each lid and there is a lion mark under the handle. Please note that this item is not new and will show moderate signs of wear commensurate with age. Reflections in the photograph may detract from the true representation of this item.
