A good pair of antique silver candle holders of plain design with knopped columns and shaped bases. Heavy cast silver and good original colour.
Total weight 728 grams, 23.4 troy ounces.
Height 16.5cm. Base 10.3cm.
London 1732/33.
Maker Thomas Causton.
Sterling silver.
Marks. Each stick is stamped underneath with a full set of clear English silver hallmarks for 1732 and 1733, the top of one stick has the lion mark.
Condition
The candlesticks are in good condition. Both completely matching and original. Excellent patina. There are no nozzles and it is unlikely they would have at this early date.

Maker: Thomas Causton
Thomas Causton, London silversmith, apprenticed to David Green 1723, turned over to Matthew Cooper 1728, a known candlestick maker. Freedom unrecorded. Mark entered as largeworker 1731.
