An elegant antique sterling silver teapot of oval shapely form with bands of pretty bright cut engraving to the body, lid and spout. Simple classic design. There is a foliate cartouche engraved to the front and back, uninscribed.

Teapot weight 496 grams, 16 troy ounces.

Marks. Stamped underneath with a full set of English silver hallmarks, the lid with the lion mark.

The antique silver teapot is in very good condition. The hand engraving is crisp. The teapot pours beautifully and does not leak.

Robert Jones I, London silversmith, no record of apprenticeship or freedom. 1st mark as plateworker 1774. 2nd mark, in partnership with John Scofield 1776. His wife Elizabeth entered her mark in 1783 after Jones’s death. Robert Jones II, son of Robert Jones I, apprenticed Hougham 1787, free 1794. Mark entered as plateworker 1796.
