Description
A very fine quality pair of antique Viennese carved ivory figures, studded with gemstones, and mounted on enamelled silver pedestal bases. Each figure carries a silver and enamel wickerwork pannier and holds a silver basket filled with hardstone fruits. The man also holds a pearl and gemstone mounted silver walking stick. The enamelled silver bases are studded with large stones and mounted with dark blue hardstone tops.
Height 23.5/21.5cm. Base 11.5 x 11cm.
Silver marked with Austrian control marks.
Vienna, circa 1890.
Condition
The figures are in generally very good condition with some faults to the enamel and missing gemstones. The ivory has some wear marks. The bases are in good condition throughout, although one has a fault-line to one of the blue hardstone tops. The panniers have damage to the enamel and there may be other small faults not noted here. The silver panniers and bases are struck with Austrian control marks. Please note that this item is not new and will show moderate signs of wear commensurate with age. Reflections in the photograph may detract from the true representation of this item.
