Description
Description
A collector’s item. Medical interest. A rare antique sterling silver feeding cup of plain design having a long pouring spout and simple curved handle. With the clever lid design, typical of mid 17th century porringers, the lid can be inverted for use as a small bowl. The lid is shaped so that it sits over the handle securely. Weight 195 grams, 6.2 troy ounces. Height 8.7 cms. Diameter 7.5 cms. London 1789. Maker Peter Carter.
Condition
This unusual silver cup is in very good condition with no damage or restoration. Both lid and body are stamped with a full set of clear English silver hallmarks. There are a few tiny dents at the tip of the spout. The handle has a small hole where a retaining chain would have been attached. Please note that this item is not new and will show moderate signs of wear commensurate with age. Reflections in the photograph may detract from the true representation of this item.
