An elegant antique silver salver. Classic plain style with swept feet and reed border. To the front there is a hand engraved armorial with a bird crest.
Weight 1433 grams, 46 troy oz.
Diameter 36cm. Height 4cm.

Maker Henry Chawner.
Sterling silver.
Marks. Stamped on the reverse with a full set of clear English silver hallmarks.
Armorial. These are the marital arms of an Acland and his Periton wife. The crescent on the fess is a cadency mark for a 2nd son or descendant of a 2nd son.
Condition
This pretty tray is in very good condition with moderate signs of wear commensurate with age.

Henry Chawner, free of Goldsmiths Company by patrimony. 1st mark (2 sizes) entered as plateworker 1786. 2nd mark (2 sizes) 1787. Married the daughter and heiress of Edward Hore in 1791, Livery 1791. 3rd mark as partner with John Emes 1796. Elected to Court of Assistants 1801. Died 1851.
