An elegant antique sterling silver bonbon basket with swing handle. With an engraved to the front. Very attractive oval boat shape. Excellent gauge silver. Weight 266 grams, 8.5 troy ounces. Height 12 cms (18 cms to top of handle). Length 15.5 cms. Width 9.5 cms. London 1789. Maker Henry Chawner.

Henry Chawner, free of Goldsmiths Company by patrimony. 1st mark (2 sizes) entered as plateworker 1786. 2nd mark (2 sizes) 1787. Married the daughter and heiress of Edward Hore in 1791, Livery 1791. 3rd mark as partner with John Emes 1796. Elected to Court of Assistants 1801. Died 1851.
