Description

A Russian silver brandy warmer with simple plain styling. Good early date. The circular bowl has a reeded border, flat handle and pull-off cover. Original gilt interior.

Weight 284 grams, 9.1 troy ounces.

Diameter 11.5 cm. Spread 20 cm. Height 7 cm. Marked on lid and base with Russian silver marks, 84 and makers mark. Date mark for 1769.

Literature: Russian silver fineness is measured in zolotniks and there are 96 zolotniks to the Russian pound. 84 zolotniks corresponds to 875 parts per 1000 silver whereas sterling silver has 925 parts per 1000 silver.

Condition

This early Russian silver brandy warmer is in very good condition. All original. Bright gilding. Both pieces clear and matching silver marks. There are some small dinks around the edge of the base of the pan. Please note that this item is not new and will show moderate signs of wear commensurate with age. Reflections in the photograph may detract from the true representation of this item.
