Frank Cobb, Sheffield silversmithery, founded in 1903. Registered silver marks 1903, 1905 and 1907. Acquired Boardman, Glossop & Co 1923 and by 1927 the workforce numbered 250. The manufacture of stainless steel table knives helped the firm expand further in the 1930s, moving to Howard Works in Broad Street in 1933. Records at Sheffield Assay Office indicate that Frank Cobb registered the firm’s mark ‘FC’ on the 15th November 1934. Cobb dies in 1957 however The Frank Cobb Group of companies was eventually liquidated in 1986.
