George Burrows I, London silversmith, no record of apprenticeship or freedom. 1st mark as smallworker 1865. 2nd mark 1770. Subsequent marks as bucklemaker 1780-99. His son George Burrows II was apprenticed to George Smith in 1783 and turned over to George Burrows I in 1783, free 1791. On his death his wife Alice and George Burrows II entered their 1st mark as plateworker in 1801.

    A fine quality antique sterling silver tray of oval form with side carrying handles. Classical style with bead borders and fine bands of bright cut engraving around the edge. The centre has an pretty hand engraved cartouche containing a stag crest. Weight 2032 grams, 65.3 troy ounces. Spread across handles 58 cms. Length 51 cms. Width 38 cms. London 1796. Maker George Burrows.
