A rare antique provincial silver teapot of oval form with a scroll handle and flush hinge. Excellent quality. To the front and back there are hand engraved swags with ribbon ties with a central armorial (probably those of Thompson quartering Bell of Scotland, impaling Rudd, engraved with a widow’s lozenge). There is a band of bright cut engraving to the front. Weight 455 grams 14.6 troy ounces. Height 12.5 cms. Spread 23 cms. Contains 750 ml. York circa 1779-1784. Maker Hampston and Prince, York. Sterling silver.

A rare piece of English provincial silver. A large and impressive antique sterling silver jug of bellied shape on a flat foot, having a plain body and squared handle. The top and spout have decorative borders and broad bands of foliage, chains and dot engraving. To the front there is a hand engraved foliate cartouche containing a monogram of entwined initials in old fashioned script. Excellent patina and hand beaten finish. Contains 2450 ml. Weight 773 grams, 24.8 troy ounces. Height 20 cms. Spread 21.75 cms. Diameter of top 10 cms. London 1801. Maker Hampston, Princes & Cattles. It is rare to find both the York town and makers mark.
