John Archbold

John Archbold, London silversmith, apprenticed to William Mouse 1666, turned over to Evodias Inman, free 1673. He seems to have run into financial difficulty and received 26 charitable gifts from the Company between 1688 and 1699, becaming an Almsman in 1699. His three apprentices all took their freedom – Thomas Shipton free 1686, John Read turned over to Robert Timbrell, free 1694 and John’s son Andrew, free 1701, first mark entered as smallworker.
