Robert Calderwood

Robert Calderwood, active in the middle of the 18th century, c.1727 until his death in 1766. He worked in Castle Street, at the back of Dublin Castle, in the centre of Dublin. He served as Warden and Master of the Company of Goldsmiths of Dublin, and trained several apprentices. Possibly he worked for a time in London, as his work differs slightly from many Irish silversmiths of that period. He occupied Pew Number 75 in St. Werburgh’s Church, the church around the corner from Goldsmith’s Hall. His maker’s mark was “RC” with a small device between the letters (the shape usually slightly scalloped on either the bottom, or both top and bottom).
