Samuel Roberts And Charles Belk

Roberts & Belk, Sheffield silversmiths, originally started as Furniss, Poles & Turner, first mark entered 1810. From c.1822-1845 the business traded as William Briggs and in 1859 Briggs entered into a partnership and the business became Roberts & Slater, silver & electroplate manufacturers. On Briggs’ retirement Roberts took Charles Belk as partner and the firm became Robert & Belk, 1st mark 1864. In 1901 the business became Roberts & Belk Ltd and in 1961 was bought by C.J. Vander Ltd.

    A rare antique silver plated novelty spoon warmer in the shape of a cornucopia. Fine quality and unusually large size. Hinged lid. With attractive engraved decoration overall, the base has a bead border and decorative carrying support. Height 15 cms. Length 23 cms. Stamped underneath for the maker Roberts & Belk, Sheffield, UK. Circa 1870.
