Simon Jouet

Simon Jouet, London silversmith, also known as Simon Jovet, Jovett or Jowett. Son of Peter Jouet, recorded working as a goldsmith in Westminster in 1699. Simon, listed as Hugeunot by Evans (Hug. Soc. Proc., 14, p. 541), was apprenticed to John Orchard 1718, turned over to Thomas Folkingham 1722, free 1725. 1st mark (New Standard) entered as largeworker c.1725. 2nd mark (Sterling) as smallworker 1725. 3rd mark 1739. 4th mark 1748. Became member of the Honourable Artillery Company 1749.
