The pot has a border of bright cut decoration around the top and to the front and back there is a decorative cartouche with ribbons and foliate swags, one containing an animal crest. The bamboo style ivory handle mounted with a silver serpent to the top and a snake’s head and motif to the bottom are very characteristic of this prestigious English master silversmith. There is a hand engraved crest to the front of the pot and also the reservoir and wick holder. Contains 1320 ml. Weight 1536 grams, 49.3 troy ounces. Total height 26 cms. Jug height 19.5 cms, spread 18 cms, base diameter 16 cms. Stand height 10.6 cms. All pieces marked and matching for London 1809. Maker Paul Storr.

An imposing feature is the graceful curved spout in the form of a animal’s head. With a broad decorative border around the neck and an applied goat’s mask mount to the base of the handle. The quality of this piece is excellent and the most imposing feature is the graceful curved spout in the form of a horse’s head. Every attention has been paid to detail with broad decorative borders, applied mounts to the ends of the handle and base of the spout, and a large bird finial. Engraved on the base with an initial.
