Description

A good quality antique silver bowl having 6 decorated panels and a blank cartouche to the front. The embossed panels are covered with characterful scenes depicting Jakarta scenes, an elephant and sage vindura-pandita, figures pulled in a horse drawn chariot, a figure asleep in a tree, a water carrier pursued by a Chinthe, figures pouring tea in front of buildings, each reserved in strapwork with foliate scrolls and vignettes infilled with devas (celestial sprites).

Weight 659 grams, 21.1 troy ounces.

Height 13 cm. Diameter 20 cm (top rim).

Unmarked silver.
