An antique silver lidded tankard with domed lid. Lovely plain design with simple straight sided form. The body has a concentric reed ring to the base of the handle, the S scroll handle finishes in a decorative thumb piece. Uninscribed. Good patina anf good weight for its size.

Height 16 cms (to top of thumb piece). Spread 16.5 cms. Diameter 9.7 cms (top).

This practical size is often known as a lady’s tankard.

Marks. Stamped with a matching set of silver marks to the body and lid, handle with maker’s mark. The lid marks are a bit rubbed. Owners initials hand engraved to the top of the handle.

This tankard is in good used condition. A nice feature are the tell-tale dents on top of the handle where the thumb piece has been touching for over 300 years. Shows moderate signs of wear commensurate with age.  Small rim repair next to the handle.
