Description

A good antique sterling silver marrow scoop used for scooping marrow out of bones. Double ended. Weight 53 grams, 1.7 troy ounces. Length 23 cms. Dublin 1807. Maker Samuel Neville.

Literature: The marrow scoop, used for scooping marrow from a bone, was made in great quantities during the 18th century. Probably only one or two were provided with a service for a dozen people and therefore were used communally. The earlier examples have fatter and shorter bowls.

Condition

This collectible Dublin silver marrow scoop is in very good condition with no damage or restoration. Stamped on the reverse with full set of clear Irish silver hallmarks. Please note that this item is not new and will show moderate signs of wear commensurate with age. Reflections in the photograph may detract from the true representation of this item.
