Description

An antique continental silver beaker of slim tapering form on a spreading foot. Bright gilding to the interior and the exterior foot and rim. The body has two bands of hand chased flower and scroll decoration with hatching. Engraved initials P.E.

Contains 200 ml.

Weight 135 grams, 4.3 troy ounces.

Height 10.5cm. Diameter 7.6cm.

Stamped underneath with an assay scrape and German silver marks for Augsburg.

Circa 1720.

Condition

The beaker is in very good condition. Clear silver marks to the base, control mark on the top rim. Some wear to the top rim gilt. Please note that this item is not new and will show moderate signs of wear commensurate with age. Reflections in the photograph may detract from the true representation of this item.

Paul Solanier was among the most gifted masters in the German imperial city of Augsburg, a leading producer of silver objects. As well as complicated display pieces, his workshop produced a great deal of utilitarian silver. Worked late 17th century.
