An excellent quality antique silver beaker with the deep embossed and engraved decoration very typical of Russian beakers of this period. Parcel gilt. Large size. Around the body there are three vignettes – a cherub with bow and arrow, a tree and a cockerel. Superb heavy quality. Excellent rich colour. Contains 620 ml. Weight 289 grams, 9.2 troy ounces. Height 13.8 cms. Diameter 10.2 cms. Marked underneath with German silver marks for Hamburg. Maker probably Clas Johann Elers who worked in St Petersburg, Russia. Circa 1750.
Condition
A useful silver drinking cup in very good condition with no damage or restoration. Crisp relief. Original bright gilding with no wear. Please note that this item is not new and will show moderate signs of wear commensurate with age. Reflections in the photograph may detract from the true representation of this item.
