A set of antique silver knives in the popular Kings pattern with later stainless steel blades.
12 dinner knives.
Length 26.7cm.
Each has a matching double crest topped by a coronet.
Made in Sheffield.
Circa 1830.
Maker Nathaniel Creswick.
Sterling silver.
Marks. All are stamped on the collar with the Sheffield assay mark, sterling lion mark and the makers mark “NC” for Nathaniel Creswick.
Condition
This useful set of sterling silver handled knives are in good condition. The engravings are still sharp. The handles are filled.

Maker: Nathaniel Creswick
This Sheffield family business, of cutlers and flatware manufacters, was started in Sheffield by Richard Creswick, founder partner of Fenton, Creswick & Co (Matthew Fenton, Richard Creswick and William Watson), all active silversmiths and Sheffield platers and among the first to enter their mark at the Sheffield Assay Office in 1773. Thomas & James Creswick, son and father partnership, registered their first Sheffield plate mark 1811, the trademark crosskeys logo. Nathaniel Creswick's mark was registered 1819. The firm later became Creswick & Co circa 1860.
