A handsome silver tray of oval form having a pierced silver gallery and inset carrying handles. Good plain design. Weight 1550 grams, 49.8 troy ounces. Spread across handles 55 cms. Length 49 cms. Width 36 cms. Marked on the top centre edge and handles with Russian silver stamps and dated 1823.

Literature: Russian silver fineness is measured in zolotniks and there are 96 zolotniks to the Russian pound. 84 zolotniks corresponds to 875 parts per 1000 silver whereas sterling silver has 925 parts per 1000 silver.

This useful tray is in very good condition with no damage. One small solder mark on one of the handles (see photo).
