A rare Victorian novelty silver antique fish which opens into a box. The fish’s mouth also opens. Beautifully flexible and articulated body. Naturalistic engraved detail and scales. Glass eyes. Weight 57 grams, 1.8 troy ounces. Length 12.7 cm. Width 4 cm. Stamped inside the box with German silver marks, 800 grade, crown and moon. Circa 1900.
This delightful little silver fish is in very good condition with no damage or restoration. Excellent quality. The inside of the box is stamped with continental silver marks, small scratch to the lid. The box and mouth hinges are a bit slack. Please note that this item is not new and will show moderate signs of wear commensurate with age. Reflections in the photograph may detract from the true representation of this item.
