Description
A stunning antique sterling silver jug with lid in the stylistic form of a sea shell with cast dolphin feet and lid finial. Very typical of Farrell’s Regency rococo work which is so prized. The gilt finish has a deep bright colour. Weight 166 grams, 5.3 troy ounces. Height 9 cms. Top rim measures 7×5.5 cms. London 1838. Maker Edward Farrell.
Condition
This striking silver milk jug is in very good condition with no damage or restoration. No wear to the gilt. The body and lid are stamped with a matching set of English silver hallmarks (makers mark, queens head, lion and date letter - there is no town mark). Please note that this item is not new and will show moderate signs of wear commensurate with age. Reflections in the photograph may detract from the true representation of this item.
