Description
Description
An antique sterling silver flip top four partition carrying case fitted with a set of four antique bloodletting lancets. These instruments are known as thumb lancets due to the manner in which they were held and pushed into the blood vessel. Tortoiseshell guards protect the blades. Unmarked silver. Circa 1790
Condition
The silver case is in excellent condition with thick gauge silver, no repairs or restoration, the catch works well, a couple of tiny dinks. The tortoiseshell guards are generally in good order, a bit worn, a few chips. The blades are rusty and one is missing the pointed end, looking at the makers marks it is possible that these are not an original set. Please note that this item is not new and will show moderate signs of wear commensurate with age. Reflections in the photograph may detract from the true representation of this item.
