Description
A large antique silver salver with a deep relief cast border and decorative splay feet. The detailed border decoration includes face masks, shells and grapes. The surface has a broad band of foliate scroll engraving surrounding a large finely engraved coat of arms. There is a crest and motto engraved to one side.
Weight approx 3020 grams, 97.1 troy ounces.
Diameter 53 cm. Height 6.5 cm.
Sterling silver. London 1845.
Maker George Ivory.
Motto. “Faire Sans Dire” translates as “Actions not Words”
Condition
The salver is in very good condition. The centre engraving has good definition, the crest and motto have some wear. Stamped underneath with a full set of English silver hallmarks. Please note that this item is not new and will show moderate signs of wear commensurate with age. Reflections in the photograph may detract from the true representation of this item.
