A good quality antique sterling silver hand bell with plain design and an engraved crest of a bird. Weight 125 cms, 4 troy ounces. Height 10.5 cms. Diameter 6 cms. London 1928. Maker Wakely & Wheeler.
Condition
This useful silver bell is in good condition with no damage or restoration. With a full set of English silver hallmarks. There is a slight "lean" to the handle. Please note that this item is not new and will show moderate signs of wear commensurate with age. Reflections in the photograph may detract from the true representation of this item.

Maker: Wakely & Wheeler
An old London silversmith firm dating back to 1791 when John Lias started the business as a buckle-maker, joined in partnership in 1818 by his son Henry Lias I, and another son Charles from 1823 to 1837. Henry Lias I became partners with his son Henry Lias II from 1850 and in 1879 Henry Lias II went into business with James Wakely. In 1884 the business remained in the hands of James Wakely and Frank Wheeler, becoming Wakely & Wheeler in 1909. In 1957 the business was acquired by Padgett & Braham Ltd.
