Description
A superb antique sterling silver teapot of circular form with a cast decorative foot and pretty flower finial. Good gauge silver and excellent manufacture. The chased body has a deep relief decoration with flowers and leaves and there is a pretty cast silver lid finial. The front cartouche has an engraved lion crest and initial “B”. Contains 1200 ml. Weight 899 grams, 28.9 troy ounces. Height 15.5 cms. Spread 27.5 cms. London 1835. Maker John Tapley.
Condition
This lovely teapot is in very condition with no damage or restoration. The silver marks are clear and easy to read. The chased decoration is sharp and well defined. This teapot has been tested for water retention and does not leak. It pours beautifully. A delightful pot. Please note that this item is not new and will show moderate signs of wear commensurate with age. Reflections in the photograph may detract from the true representation of this item.

John Tapley, maker of fine quality hollowware, marks registered in 1834 and 1840. John Culme’s biography of Rundell & Bridge refers to the closure of Rundell & Bridge’s premises in 1834 and the transfer of the silver work to William Bateman and John Tapley & Co
