An excellent early English silver flat top lidded tankard with a scroll handle having a decorative thumb piece. Good patina. Lovely plain design and hand beaten silver.
Weight 876 grams, 28.1 troy ounces.
Height 17 cms (to top of thumb piece). Diameter 13 cms (of base).
Fully marked on lid and base, makers mark on the handle.
London 1676.
Maker’s mark HB conjoined, mullet below – see Jacksons page 129.
Sterling silver.
Condition
This rare antique silver tankard is in very good condition. The lid and body have matching silver marks which are easy to read. The handle has a maker's mark and a couple of dents where the thumb piece meets the handle when the lid is open. Good patina. Please note that this item is not new and will show moderate signs of wear commensurate with age. Reflections in the photograph may detract from the true representation of this item.
