An elegant antique sterling silver serving ladle with a shell shaped bowl. Excellent plain style. Weight 182 grams, 5.8 troy ounces. Length 36 cms. Width of bowl 8.7 cms. Makers mark only struck 4 times for Isaac Callard, London. Circa 1730
Condition
This pretty silver ladle is in very good condition. Makers mark only. The bowl is in good condition and is not worn thin. Please note that this item is not new and will show moderate signs of wear commensurate with age. Reflections in the photograph may detract from the true representation of this item.
Maker Information
Maker: Isaac Callard
Isaac Callard, London silversmith originating from a Huguenot immigrant family, apprenticed to his father, the spoonmaker Paul Hanet in 1708. Married Elisabet Vivier 1688. Mark entered as largeworker 1726. 3rd mark 1739. 4th mark 1747. Last mark 1750. Paul Hanet was godfather to Callard’s son Paul Callard (also known as Collar) and became his apprentice master in 1737.
