A handsome pair of antique sterling silver sauceboats with typical classic shape and plain styling of the period. Uninscribed. Good weight.

Total weight 558 grams, 17.9 troy ounces.
Spread 17 cm. Height 11 cm (to top of handle).
London 1763.
Maker William & John Deane.

Marks. Both stamped underneath with a full and matching set of English silver hallmarks.

Condition

These lovely sauce boats are in very good condition. Good gauge silver.

Maker: William & John Deane

William and John Deane, London silversmiths and presumably brothers, no record of apprenticeship or freedom. 1st-6th marks entered as smallworker in partnership together in 1759,62,63,64,64 and 68. William Deane entered his separate mark WD alone in 1759 and was apparently working alone after John Deane entered his own mark in 1768.
