A fine Regency taperstick in cast silver with a gilt finish. This antique figural candle holder is beautifully modelled as a gentleman or “dandy”. Ideal for a desk or table decoration.
Weight 218 grams, 7 troy ounces.
Height 15.1cm. Base diameter 7.7cm.

Sterling silver.
Marks. Stamped on the base with a full set of English silver hallmarks. Maker’s mark incise stamped ‘D S’ for David Solomon.
Literature: Tapersticks, averaging about 5 inches high are miniature table candlesticks used to hold a wax taper. They are rarer than candlesticks and very few exist prior to the Queen Anne period. They usually appear in singles and pairs of tapersticks command a premium price.
Condition
In very good condition. Crisp detail. Slight wear to the gilt.
