A handsome antique sterling silver centrepiece bowl on pedestal foot, with plain classic styling and broad gadroon borders. Good size and weight. Excellent quality. Bright original gilding. There is a large hand engraved armorial to the front with the motto “Prest Pour Mon Pais” – ‘Ready For My Country’. Weight 2545 grams, 81.8 troy ounces. Height 20 cms. Diameter 29 cms. London 1807. Maker Richard Cooke.
Condition
This superb silver bowl is in very good condition with no damage or restoration. Marked on the side of the foot with a full set of clear English hallmarks. The engraved armorial is still crisp. Please note that this item is not new and will show moderate signs of wear commensurate with age. Reflections in the photograph may detract from the true representation of this item.

Richard Cooke, London silversmith, no record of apprenticeship or freedom. Only mark entered as plateworker 1799. Arthur Grimwade describes his work as good standard and Cooke probably supplied one of the leading retailers Rundell & Co or Jefferys, Jones and Gilbert.
