A good antique sterling silver tankard with domed hinged lid and plain baluster form. Good size and weight. Attractive strapwork and shaped pierced thumbpiece to the top of the handle. Hand engraved to the front is a large hand engraved monogram in old fashioned cursive script. Contains 1200 ml. Weight 864 grams, 27.7 troy ounces. Height 22 cm. Diameter 10.8 cm (top). Spread 17.5 cm. London 1791. Maker Thomas Oliphant.
Condition
This fine tankard is in very good condition with no damage. Good weight and colour. Fully marked with clear silver stamps inside the lid and underneath the body, handle unmarked.
