A handsome antique sterling silver mug of baluster form with scroll handle capped by an acanthus leaf. Excellent plain style. Uninscribed. Good size. Contains 500 ml. Weight 378 grams, 12.1 troy ounces. Height 12.8 cms. Diameter of top 8.4 cms. Spread 13 cms. London 1762. Maker Francis Crump.
Condition
This elegant silver mug is in very good condition with no damage or restoration. Stamped with a full set of clear English silver marks. Francis Crump, apprenticed to Gabriel Sleath 1726, free 1741. 1st mark entered as largeworker 1741. 2nd and 3rd marks 1745/51. 4th mark, in oartnership with Gabriel Sleath1753. 5th mark alone 1756. 6th mark 1761. Married Sarah Bullbeck 1760, they had 4 children.
