Description

A plain styled antique sterling silver mug of baluster form with a shaped scroll handle with acanthus mount. Excellent quality. Good gauge silver. Hand engraved to the front is a monogram within a decorative cartouche. Contains 500 ml. Weight 411 grams, 13.2 troy ounces. Height 13 cm. Diameter 8.6 cm (top). Spread 13 cm. London 1770. Maker Francis Crump.

Condition

This useful silver mug is in very good condition with no damage or restoration. The engraving is still crisp. Stamped with a full set of clear English silver hallmarks underneath. Good colour. Please note that this item is not new and will show moderate signs of wear commensurate with age. Reflections in the photograph may detract from the true representation of this item.

Francis Crump, apprenticed to Gabriel Sleath 1726, free 1741. 1st mark entered as largeworker 1741. 2nd and 3rd marks 1745/51. 4th mark, in oartnership with Gabriel Sleath1753. 5th mark alone 1756. 6th mark 1761. Married Sarah Bullbeck 1760, they had 4 children.
