A handsome antique sterling silver mug of baluster form with a scroll handle. Excellent plain style. With a hand engraved crest to the front. Contains 475 ml. Good gauge silver. Weight 297 grams, 9.4 troy ounces. Height 11.5 cms. Diameter of top 8.5 cms. London 1762. Maker Shaw and Priest.
Condition
This elegant silver mug is in very good condition with no damage or restoration. The engraving of the crest is crisp. The silver marks are clear and easy to read. There is one tiny bruise. Please note that this item is not new and will show moderate signs of wear commensurate with age. Reflections in the photograph may detract from the true representation of this item.

Maker: William Shaw And William Priest
William Shaw II, apprenticed to John Swift 1736, free 1748. First mark entered as largeworker 1749. Second and third marks, in partnership with William Priest, 1749 and 1759. William Priest (or Preist), apprenticed to Richard Gurney 1740, free 1749. First and second marks entered as largeworker in partnership with William Shaw in 1749 and 1759. Third mark with his brother James Priest in 1764; they worked together until 1773. The Shaw & Priest partnership specialized in making good quality holloware coffee pots, tankards and some salvers.
