An elegant antique sterling silver wine label of curved rectangular form with wriggle-work border and engraved “PORT”. An attractive feature is the domed top with pierced scroll decoration.

Weight 8 grams.

Length 4.5 cms. Width 1.1/1.5 cm.

Literature. Wine Labels, also known as “bottle tickets”, appear to have originated in the second quarter of the 18^th century. They were made in many attractive designs and a are a popular collecting field. Among the many good makers are Hester Bateman and family, Phipps & Robinson, Samuel Bradley, Mary Binley and Paul Storr.
