A giant antique silver serving spoon with a large bowl. Rat tail pattern.

Weight 164 grams, 5.2 troy ounces.
Length 36 cms. Bowl 13 x 7.7cm.
Marked on the reverse with continental silver marks “A” in a triangle and the silver grade “12”*.
Probably German, circa 1840.

Literature: *The previous system of antique German silver marks was based on different town marks symbols and the silver fineness was indicated in ‘loth’ (12 loth corresponding to 750/1000, 13 loth = 812/1000, 14 loth = 875/1000, 15 loth = 937/1000)

Condition

This silver spoon is in good condition. The bowl is not thin but has a few minor dinks from use over the years.
