A charming pair of antique sterling silver condiments modelled as baby birds. Excellent quality and heavy gauge silver.Beautifully modelled with expressive little faces. Screw filler caps to the base. Weight 158 grams, 5 troy ounces. Height 6 cms. Continental silver marks. English silver import marks for Chester 1911. Maker Berthold Muller.

These attractive model birds are in very good condition with no damage or restoration. Each bird has silver marks underneath the feet, one foot with the maker and continental marks, the other with a full set of Chester import marks. Please note that this item is not new and will show moderate signs of wear commensurate with age. Reflections in the photograph may detract from the true representation of this item.

Maker: Berthold Muller

Berthold Mueller was an import firm, who distributed a lot of Neresheimer silver. The firm changed its name in 1915 to Berthold Muller and was listed as wholesale silversmiths and jewellers, antique reproduction in silver, ivories, miniatures, enamels, and so forth. B. Neresheimer & Sohne, Hanau, Germany offered a wide range of highly decorative objects like nefs, tankards, coconut and nautilus cups, and other sumptuous sideboard pieces. Hanau silver was largely imported in UK between the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century.
