An excellent quality pair of antique silver spoons with figural ends depicting a classical lady culminating in a twisted handle possibly resembling a mermaids tail. The gilded bowl is attached with a fruit encrusted mount. These delightful spoons are very heavy and have a chunky feel. Traces of gilding all over. Weight 179 grams, 5.7 troy ounces. Length 18 cms. Marked on the back of the bowl with a hand mark. Probably German. Circa 1800.

A handsome antique sterling silver pedestal bowl of circular form with half ribbed body and egg and dart border. Excellent quality and heavy gauge silver. This form is very similar to the Warwick Vase shape. The cast wrythen side carrying handles are embellished with vine leaf and grape ornament making it, together with its weight and campana form, very suitable for use as a small size wine cooler. Hand engraved to the front is an armorial within a shield, and to the reverse there is a crest of a leopard. Weight 1646 grams, 52.9 troy ounces. Height 19.5 cms. Diameter 19.5 cms. Spread 29.5 cms. An antique gilt silver bowl of large size and exceptionally heavy weight; this excellent quality is just as you’d expect from a master silversmith trained by the world famous Paul Storr. Raised on a pedestal foot and having hinged lions mask side handles, this oval wine cooler takes two bottles. The deep relief applied decoration is covered in grape and vine leaf ornament, the centre ovals have a Bacchanalian scene with cherubs, a goat and an impish Bacchus, to either side there is a large bird and dolphin. Weight 4218 grams, 135.6 troy ounces. Top 31 x 23.5cm. Height 18cm. London 1816. Maker John Houle, freeman of the Vintners’ Company. Sterling silver.

A handsome antique silver cruet set with a matching set of 3 silver casters and 2 silver topped and faceted crystal oil and vinegar bottles. The cinquefoil frame has 4 shell feet and a shaped decorative cartouche containing a hand engraved armorial. An unusual feature is that one small caster has been fitted with a plain inner sleeve; this is known as a “blind caster” which is the earliest form of mustard pot.
