  Antique Newcastle provincial silver. A rare antique sterling silver tea caddy box of plain oval form, the fixed carrying handle having a reed and acanthus decoration. Lovely classic style. The unusual double opening lid has an inset hinge and there is a lock to either side (no key). The tea box has borders of crisp hand engraving bright cut dots, scrolls and foliage; both ends with an empty foliate cartouche. Weight 649 grams, 20.8 troy ounces. Height 11 cms, 19 cms including handle. Length 16.5 cms. Width 10.5 cms. Newcastle 1798. Maker John Langlands.

  English provincial silver. A good antique sterling silver tankard with domed hinged lid and plain baluster design. Sterling silver. The handle has attractive strapwork to the top and a heart shape decoration to the base. Good size. Contains 1,050 ml. Weight 816 grams, 26.2 troy ounces. Height 22.5cm (to thumbpiece).   A rare Irish provincial sterling silver serving spoon with highly sought after Limerick marks. Excellent plain style with the pointed terminal, typical of the late 18th century. The end is hand engraved with with a crest and the motto “Pro Rege, Lege Grege” (Latin for ‘For King, Law and People’). Weight 98 grams, 3.1 troy ounces. Length 33 cms. Width 5 cms. Marked on the back of the handle with the makers mark WFG for William Fitzgerald (worked at Mary Street and 15, Patrick Street, Limerick 1794-1824) and “STERLING”.

  A very good Scottish provincial silver and horn quaich, the two side handles mounted with amethyst or citrine glass jewels. The cup is inset with a silver disc engraved ‘Squab asi’, a Gaelic phrase meaning ‘Sweep it up’, a much used toast in the Highlands of Scotland meaning “Drink heartily, with gusto”. Length 13.7 cms. Diameter 7.3 cms. Height 2.7 cms. Hallmarked silver for Edinburgh 1910. Made by William Dunningham & Co. of Aberdeen.
